Fetal Medicine

Fetal medicine has been improving greatly over the last decades, aiming to assess the baby´s well-being and to diagnose and treat development problems prenatally. At Célula Mater, the mother-to-be has access to advanced equipment that carry out every test necessary during prenatal routine, such as ultrasounds to evaluate growth and track fetal anomalies. If necessary, our clinic also has a skillful team, able to perform even the most pioneer intrauterine surgeries.

General and Female Urology

Urology is the medical specialty which deals with diseases of the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs (testicles, prostate and penis).

You should see an urologist when:

A boy or male teenager presents:

  • Urinary infection;
  • Leaking urine at night or during the day;
  • Kidney malformation;
  • Phimosis;
  • Testicle pain (which may be caused by varicose veins called varicocele, and could lead to infertility);
  • Orientation about sex life and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases;
  • Orientation on testicle masses whose prevalence is greater up to the age of 30.

A woman presents:

  • Urinary infection;
  • Leaking urine at night or during the day;
  • Frequent urination;
  • Difficulty emptying the bladder and weak urine stream;
  • Bladder pain;
  • Any amount of blood in the urine;
  • Kidney stones;
  • Bladder or kidney tumors;
  • If they intend to get pregnant, to check for kidney stones. They should be treated prior to the pregnancy, given the likelihood of aggravation during pregnancy.

A man presents:

  • Erectile dysfunction;
  • Difficulty to reproduce;
  • Urinary infection;
  • Burning urethra;
  • Testicle or penile pain;

  • Sexually transmitted diseases (HPV, herpes, candidiasis)
